<p>He can do craigslist of course but I thought I would post here first. DS is going to grad school in Boston starting late August. He will be moving from one apartment there to another and the new place is furnished. Of course, he has Ikea furniture and stuff that is only a few years old. Anyone have a student who will be needing furniture? He would love to sell it all fairly cheap to one person and be done with that project. Moving into his new place Aug. 15 or so, lease on old place is up Aug. 31.</p>
<p>Great idea–if you don’t get any takers here, what about contacting the landlord and seeing if HE wants to buy the furniture and leave it there and then he can offer the place as a furnished place.</p>
<p>good idea but won’t work in this case. It is a building with lots of apartments and none are offered as furnished. Not really a lot of students in the building. It’s a step up from the previous three apartments but not close enough to the grad school and not on a grad school budget.<br>
If I don’t get any interest he will go to craigslist…</p>
<p>See if there is a way for the landlord to pass the info to the next tenant. That would certainly be a win/win, if new tenant has not furniture or wants an opportunity to trade up inexpensively.</p>
<p>Also, have your son take pics and post them to his friends on FB. That is how one of my kids sold ALL of their apartment stuff when they moved. It was nice because either friends or friends of friends called.</p>

<p>thumper good idea but he is no longer on fb. Dropped it when he finiished UG a few years ago and was working full time. I know he can get rid of it via craigslist, just thought I might find someone who had a kid with the “furniture dilemma” It seems like a common post when undergrads move into that first apartment…</p>
<p>ebeeee, good idea and good luck. Aug 31 in Boston is a “special time” Thousands of students moving in and moving out, all on the same day! Truck rental companies generally not willing to provide 2 day rentals (There’s a Catch-22). Tons of furniture looking for a new home, thousands of students looking for furniture. Sometimes they meet out on the curb. I may have to go through this one more time. I don’t know if my son is going to go into university housing, find an apartment or move in with his girlfriend for his final semester.</p>
<p>Yup. He is actually moving to new place aug 15 to avoid the hassle and be set up before law school starts.</p>
<p>S will be moving to Cambridge in early August, will need furniture. He is planning to have a bed delivered around the time of move( sleeping on the floor doesn’t appeal to him), but possibly may wait for other things until mid-august. I will ask him tomorrow.</p>

<p>Daughter’s boyfriend is moving to a 2 month furnished sub-let in Cambridge next week. He will begin looking for an apartment when he arrives. He will also need furniture for August. Let me know and I will give him your son’s contact info. BTW, anyone know of a reasonable rental for late August?</p>
