I have looked on-line, but none seem that great.
This is for Thanksgiving dessert, so I want it to be special, but not too difficult to make.
Thanks in advance
I did find a good recipe for apple walnut cobbler. I tried it once before Thanksgiving, and then I modified it for Thanksgiving dessert. My son said it should be a new staple, which is as good as it gets around here
It seemed easier to make than apple pie, and I like nuts, so we were happy.
Sounds good. I dislike walnuts so I eliminate them in foods I want, H gets to eat all I buy. I also prefer the crisp (oatmeal in topping) to the cobbler topping. This year I skipped the crust for our pumpkin pie (just H and I) and we got the best parts (filling and topping). btw- I like to add a LOT more cinnamon than recipes with apples call for. Whatever works is the way to go. Now, if only apples would peel, core and slice themselves…
The next best thing to apples peeling, coring and slicing themselves is the spiralizing attachment to my kitchen aide mixer https://www.kitchenaid.com/shop/-[KSM1APC]-5505597/KSM1APC/. It makes doing the apples a snap.
@Singersmom07, I actually used my Pampered Chef apple peeler, corer, slicer. I used it often when my kids were little but hadn’t used it in the 11 years since I’ve lived in our current house. It made the apples so easy I will be making more apple stuff.
Yes! Super easy copycat instructions for Houston’s restaurant Apple Walnut Cobbler with sauce. Skip the recipe at the top and read down to the comment from “Chris”. Houston’s starts with a frozen pie. I have followed Chris’ instructions many times and it is the exact same taste. Crowd pleaser! Yum!

Thanks @TQfromtheU. I found that recipe, but I could t bring myself to use it for Thanksgiving. I will try it when it’s just for family.
Do it they way Chis said and it is perfect. My husband orders this dessert everytime we are at the restaurant and he agrees that the taste is dead on. (We are 20+ year regulars at Houston’s.)
@TQfromtheU, I’ve been going there since about 1986. I will try the recipe when he’s home for winter break.
