Just got a random email to set up an Amazon business account. Its free (but of course not prime, so no guaranteed 2 day shipping) but they claim they have special business pricing. Separate from the slightly discrepant pricing for prime vs non prime items (they seem to often pad the prime prices to cover the costs) are there truly and special discounts/lower prices on items (and if so, which ones?) for businesses? Anyone have experience with this?
I have not heard of Amazon business. Do you have to prove that you are a part of a business?
Probably, but dunno. I just filled out the basic info they asked for. It does look like there are opportunities to put a tax ID etc in, but I have 2 usinesses and only 1 tax ID, and used the business name/email that doesnt have the tax ID (its a DBA). So we’ll see what they need
The university I work for uses it and we are encouraged to use it for work purchases.
These were listed as perks (for our situation anyway - may vary depending on your size, purchases, etc.)
• Free Two-Day Shipping on orders over $49
• Business Pricing and quantity discounts
• Access to a specialized Customer Service team
• Enhanced reporting features that will allow spend management oversight and visibility
I have one. To be honest I haven’t found any special pricing yet. I use it to keep track of business expenses, tuition expenses, as opposed to personal.
Both of the non-profits I have worked for have had business accounts. We were able to provide the documentation to never get charged sales tax on our purchases. I think they did have some basic business supplies at special prices. At both places we had prime accounts - so free shipping - but paid an annual fee. In both cases we also tied a business credit card to the account - so it was very convenient to use.
