Anyone have any experience with Virgin Mobile or any cheap cell phone providers?

We switched from Verizon to Straight Talk last August and have had very good luck with them. The actual service provider depends on which phone you choose - mine works on AT&T network and the kids’ phones are using Verizon. So, it’s fairly easy to determine how well the coverage will suit individual needs and still all use the same service. The kids like having unlimited talk, text & data and I like the price! It’s $45 a month for unlimited, less if you pay for 3 months at a time, or $30/mo for 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts, and a limit on data (can’t remember how much as I don’t use it). They have more smartphones available online than Walmart sells in most stores.

I just switched my D to Virgin Mobile $25/mo prepaid plan, 300 minutes talk, unlimited text and data plan. We live in the NW and she does not seems to have any problem with coverage. Of course, being teenager, she mostly uses it for texting and surfing the web, so I am not sure about voice quality! We’ll find out once she goes to school on the East Coast if Virgin Mobile coverage is still acceptable. Once she is on campus, the phone will be mostly on Wifi so even spotty coverage may be OK. For a monthly fee only and no contract, we thought it was worth a shot.
