Anyone have experience w City Colleges of Chicago (community colleges)

Does anyone here (or their children) have any knowledge about the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) system? My D25 is leaning toward starting at a community college, and has many friends in Chicago.

Any info whatsoever is appreciated!

We don’t know much, but we live in Chicago. CCC has a lot of programs for Chicago Public HS students, and our D has a couple of friends who went that route. She also took an online class there last summer. There are several locations around the city, but Harold Washington is the most centrally located one, downtown. They also offer tons of online classes. Anything in particular you/she would like to know?

Thanks for responding!

She would probably try to do her generals and also take a lot of art classes.

Really just anything anyone has heard or experienced, good or bad. The info you have given already is helpful. Good to know about Harold Washington. That does seem to be the location closest to where her friends go to school (some at Columbia College, some at SAIC.)

Yes, HW is very close to Columbia College, so it’s nice that she has friends there! If she’s taking art classes she may want to look into taking them at Columbia instead. Gen eds will be comparable in quality but less expensive at CCC. Columbia will very likely have better art profs and facilities and is still reasonable (though more than CCC) from a tuition standpoint. Roosevelt is another option, although I know more about their strong theater program than their visual art.
