Anyone have leads on housing in Nashville?

Ds2 starts his job there next week and still needs housing. He’s willing to Airbnb for a while until he finds something more permanent. People on here are so resourceful that I was hoping that y’all might have some leads – garage apts, kids who need a non-smoking roommate. As witnessed by the Low-Ball Job Offer thread, he can’t spend a lot of money.

Thanks for any help!

My son found a summer sublet two summers ago on Craigslist. It was in Antioch so he needed a car to get to Nashville. It also came with the responsibility of taking care of two cats! He did not get a break on rent in spite of the cats. I got the sense it was a pretty tough market for a renter looking for a short term rental. Or maybe he is a bad negotiator.

nashville is a boom town. lots of people fleeing the northeast move to floirda,georgia, south/north carolina and tennessee (greater nashville in particular)
can he stay in an extended stay hotel for a week or two?

I’ll look into that, zobroward. We hadn’t considered that.

Another vote for Craigslist. S1 lived in Nashville for part of 2016 and found a great furnished room/bath for around $800/month.

Actually, my daughter and her husband just recently bought a house that has an area (converted garage) that the previous owner rented. It has its own entrance, full bath, small area where mini fridge and microwave could go, and closet. I’ll be happy to check with them and see if they’re interested in renting. It’s in Nashville 37214.

@SplashMom that would be great!

I’m bumping this in case anyone else knows of an available room. :slight_smile:

D lived at The Grove one summer :http://www.ntsgrovewhitworth.com/

She & her husband spent 18 months at The Metropolitan before moving to a rental house. Hopefully, the next stop will be buying, but it’s a red hot market. http://www.themetropolitanapartments.com/

Both are located just off West End Avenue and are very convenient. I’m sure there are more economical options out there, but many would require longer commutes, more gas, etc.

Yeah, he looked at The Grove. Too rich for his blood.

D’s first on-her-own apartment was off West End and was managed by Bryan, Ward, & Elmore. The development was not a rental one, so this firm managed the apartment for the owner (who she never met during the 4 years she lived there). We absolutely hated the woman who was the contact for her unit, but I don’t see her name in their link (maybe her incompetence has made her obsolete). Might be worth a call. http://www.bwerealty.com/propmgt.html to see if they have anything available.

If it helps to know your S isn’t alone in the search for affordable housing, here’s one of the front page articles from today’s Tennessean: http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/2017/05/23/nashville-affordable-housing-shortage/339238001/

I passed that on. Right now, he’s found an Airbnb couch until he finds something more permanent!
