Anyone heard from Cal Poly Pomona yet?

ya my school like most school within 45 miles of los angeles are in the LA County of Education but i also noticed it had an asterisk by it (like this ). so i think it means not all the schools in LA County of eduaction.

Wow. The info about sending an appeal looks difficult and impossible to get in by appeal. It also says they may not even look at appeals. SHYET

i just called CPP again and this time, a guy told me they are still sending out acceptance for transfer students on a weekly basis. WTH who should i believe?

They’re still doing transfers and local FTF. they done with non local FTF.

I still have hope but its micro-sized.

They said they won’t look at appeals if it is incomplete. So basically, we need the cover letter, letter, transcript, and documents. I’m in the process of writing a letter. >___<. Haven’t cried yet, since this is determining my fate for CC.

Hi there Everyone!

I had to create an account just so then I would answer a few misinterpretations… o3o
I was admitted a few weeks ago around mid-May as a FTF from out of the local area:
GPA: 3.9
SAT: 2000/2400
I had applied as a Science, Technology and Society major which was claimed as non-impacted, but unexpectedly… I was waitlisted for about a few weeks until I checked my account in mid-May in which I had not received any notifications (emails) that I had been admitted until a few days ago (so please, don’t expect any email confirmations or anything since they don’t have an automated machine that sends out confirmation emails to accepted individuals, but prefer to hold off and send them in mass emails).

For the individuals that don’t have such high GPAs or are proud of their SAT/ACT test scores, it is alright! To tell you the truth, a few of my friends from last year was not admitted into CPP until mid-July. So, no stress. If you have already accepted a different UC or CSU and reserved a spot with your deposit, you are still able to accept CPP, but would end up losing your $100 - $500 deposit from your other choice. For me, I lost my $500 from Concordia University in Irvine, but I think CPP is definitely worth the money and wait. @itzEdward: Plus, I verified with three different individuals on the admissions board in which confirmed that they are accepting FTF AND Transfers on a weekly basis. Please don’t let their automated machine thingie-majig fool you! Haha :)

But, I saw some… confusion and anxiety on the housing issue and yes, I did receive an email that said:
“Contracting is on a first-come, first-served, space available basis.
Please keep in mind the deadline to apply for housing in order to enroll
in classes is May 1, 2012. It is necessary that you complete the housing
contract and the initial $300 fee for housing”

If you were admitted recently, you must be confused on why you can’t apply for housing space. I called about two housing reps and they both said they update their system every Thursday in which the recently admitted applicants need to request for Housing Information to make sure you are in their database when they update ONCE a week, which allows you access to their Housing License and Agreements and to start on your housing application.
Request for Housing Info for Residence Halls and Suites: http://www.dsa.csupomona.edu/uhs/res_hall_info_card.asp</a>
I am still anxious on who I will receive as a roommate since I was admitted in a little tad late… If anyone is looking for a roomie, Message^^!? I hope that clears up a few things!

oh ic thanks prancie. I haven’t heard of any acceptance in a while tho

One of my friends (out of area) for accepted for computer info on June 1st… With 3.3 gpa or something.

I’m sending my appeal sometime this week after it gets reviewed. I think I have a reasonable new/compelling info… It’s worth a try and the fight for it .__."

Just got rejected from Long Beach (from the wait list) in Chemical Engineering (not impacted there) so looks like my predictions here are gonna be true as well.
No one has gotten in AFTER june 1st yet here, right?

x14sta - is your friend enrolling? because i would think we can take the spots of people (accepted after May 1) who aren’t enrolling

My friend rejected. I don’t believe what cpp says anymore. Urgg. I’m pushing for my appeal regardless

The biggest problem with an appeal is that they have not rejected us yet…
Since we have no document stating we are rejected, in essence, we are not. They can take their sweet time or not reject us at all. We may all be forever stuck at “application received”.

Today I was told by someone that was not very happy that he did not expect that anyone outside of the local area would be accpeted even if the departments DID have room. I spoke with the department that is NOT impacted and they said they are expecting to have more students. However, my answer from this gentleman was that regardless of if that department is full or empty, if you are not from the local area, you will not be admitted. He said it several times. “We are no longer accepting from the waitlist outside of the local area”. I said, can that change if there is room available? He said no!

So, I suppose it depends on who one talks to and if they are in a good mood.

They set it up so we can’t appeal.

When I called admissions a week ago, the guy said I can appeal even though I wasn’t formally denied. I guess it depends on who answers the phone in admissions. It seems they want to make clear that outside area FTF aren’t admitted despite the lack of a formal rejection.

Im all set at my backup school but hoping for CPP until classes start in Fall.

x14sta - do mind me asking what’s in your appeal?

Cal Poly is really confusing us with what information is what :/. It’s like facing the alter ego of it’s… Crew members.

Anyways, @Tum, I’m going to include my documents of being in the rose parade along with participating in some activities and events/competitions that Cal Poly hosted this year and receiving honors through these programs… It helps since these competitions/activities are within range of my major. It’s worth a try.

I think that’s a legit appeal. Hopefully you’ll get in that way. My appeal is going to suck cuz it’ll be a persuasive one. Oh well, lol phuk it

Sent from my Desire HD using CC

Hey guys, I’m still at provisional admit, I’m waiting for my final transcripts to get to them. The wait is killing me! I really hope there are no surprises.

Sent from my MB508 using CC

@tum A lot of people I see that appeals talk about how their family member died and they went under “depression” which held them back. I’m going to use facts that I am involved with CPP without being a student to hopefully convince them I’m interested.

Knowing CPP, anything can happen!

Still on application received as a transfer. Why is CPP taking so long?

edward what are your stats?

3.0 GPA CS major

wow that’s insane. CS isnt even impacted. You should have gotten in by now if your transferring with a 3.0. but I could be wrong bcuz idk if CS is difficult to get into… probably that’s the reason. Hopefully they’ll get you in.
