I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA, and I was wondering if I still have a shot at ucla. Has anyone in this forum been accepted to ucla with a 3.6 or lower gpa? And what were your test scores?

3.6? This is CC, ■■■■… jk

I would say your chances are slim because the avg gpa is 3.9 uw.

You can look at some statistics for Fall 2012: [Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2012 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof12.htm) It says on this page that 36% admitted had an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and 51% with 3.70-3.99 GPAs. Also, lol, Muta’s comment. This is CC, and people here tend to be at least average (and more often than not, above average).

edit: You do have a shot at UCLA. Maybe up your GPA some? Also, extracurriculars, essays all count. (Especially essays.)

Even the transfer GPA is extremely high. Anything below a 3.68 puts you below 50%

I had a 3.5 UW/3.W gpa, but I got in the School of Arts and Architecture which is more reliant on audition/portfolio. A very high test score/extra curricular/interesting essay that maybe subtly explains your grade will help at this point. Hopefully you had challenging classes. Don’t give up yet, and good luck!

Thanks people. I did get a 2200+ on my SAT and have somewhat good ECs, but I do understand that GPA is probably the most important part for UCs.

Don’t give up without a good try. UCLA looks at more than just the GPA. Extracurriculars, volunteer work, difficulty of classes and an awesome essay will make for a competitive application. Look at old decision posts to get a better feel for your admission possibilities. All the best to you!

UCLA definitely looks at extracurriculars. I had a friend admitted with around a 3.6 because he was a dancer who won a lot of studio competitions. On top of that, he was an officer (VP? i think) for Key Club. Step it up with extracurriculars and you definitely have a chance
