My daughter received a letter late last week congratulating her on getting a perfect score on one of her AP exams she took last May 2016. Anyone know how colleges look at that? I realize it is just a test…but…
Anyone who gets a 36 on the ACT is in a great position and colleges know it. The letter is irrelevant to them. The letter is just for her. She got a 36, that’s all colleges care about.
two different things @Lindagaf . You misread the question because she is not referring to the ACT she is asking about getting a perfect score on a AP exam
@hcmom65 My son’s friend received one of those letters last week. That is super cool so a big congratulations ot your daughter. I would definitely add that under the honors section of AP. On another thread a parent called and asked the AO officer whether they’d want to know their child was an AP scholar and the AO said to send a hard copy of the certificate. This is much more special and I would be sure to include this. Congratulations!
You are right, so sorry:-) Yes, I would inlcude that under the Honors section. That’s pretty rare. Thanks @paveyourpath .
This request is very rare; most colleges will not want copies of any certificate.
To the OP: Congrats to your daughter; that’s quite an achievement. She should definitely include in the Honors section.
@skieurope thank you! Yes, we will not send in any letter/certificate. Colleges do not like hard copies these days - I agree with you. The colleges she has already applied to (and that she has to send updates) will just get an update email. She will now include under the honors section for the rest of the applications. Thank you again for your “congrats”----proud mommy!
@paveyourpath - my daughter is an AP scholar. That is again just listed under the Honors.
I think that with all the “awards/honors” kids are getting these days, just listing them is what the colleges want to see. Getting hard copies of letters and certificates would create a paperwork nightmare at the colleges if every student started to send all these in. When you list these things on the common app (or any app for that matter), one assumes that you are being truthful without having to produce a hard copy as proof. just my 2 cents worth!
@skieurope is correct: include it in the Honors section and do not bother with a certificate (@hcmom65 is incorrect about this). Congrats to your daughter–that’s very impressive.
@marvin100 how am I INCORRECT about this? I agreed with the same thing that @skieurope said. Listing honors is correct way and not sending in anything hardcopy. Not sure I understand your comment above. Please let me know. thanks
I’m sorry, @hcmom65 – I misread. No more pre-coffee posting for me. My apologies!
Ha! No worries…thank you for clarifying!!! @marvin100
