Anyone in NE building an ark?

I’m beginning to feel like a mushroom. This morning at 8 AM it looked like 8 PM outside it was so dark!

You may feel like a mushroom. Our lawn is covered with them!

I think building the ark is going to be cheaper than fixing the basement leaks.

I just returned from a week long trip to the NE (Conn, Mass, NJ/Ny, Me, Va) and you can have me to thank for those few days about a week ago of sunshine and nice weather you had. Apparently it had been raining for a month or so before we got there but the weather turned nice about the day we arrived. From your post it sounds like it took a turn.

Now that I’m paying ridiculous punitive rates to water my avocado trees it’d be nice if someone would build a nice large pipeline to bring some of your excess water this way.

Hey, guess what? The sun is out in North Jersey. I better run out to see it before it starts to rain again.

** sigh **

Here in Houston we had our first thunderstorm in FOUR WEEKS pass through Monday night … where I live we got lightning and thunder and heavy clouds for about 2 hours … but not a drop of rain. We’ve had 38 straight days with temps above 90, 5 of the last 6 had highs above 100.

You know that happy crunching noise you hear when you walk through fresh snow? Well, I hear that every time I walk across my lawn, only it’s dead grass … even after I have watered the lawn!

karp–Yeah, quick! Everything’s all shiny and glistening. We’ve had two downpours already today (also North J) and I don’t expect this to last.

62 degrees!!! That’s our high for the day. Yesterday we got all the way up to 63. I want to scream!

Oh, and taking the dogs out has been a real joy.

Re my brief comment above about not expecting the sunshine to last:

It’s raining again.

third time today.

How have we offended the gods?

I have ruined every pair of my shoes now (it always rains as I am getting out of work), and that costs more than some roof leak repair.

My air conditioning bill is non-existent this summer. It’s nice to just leave the window open.

I guess it probably wouldn’t help make it easier if I said it was a perfect day in the high 70s/low 80s here with the sun shining and has been almost every day (with a few bouts of marine-layer low-cloudiness in the morning right on the coast) for weeks/months and will continue to be for quite a while before it rains again around October/November so I guess I won’t say anything. ;)

Thank you for reminding us how wonderful the San Diego weather is… I am just thankful for the sump pump we put in our basement six months ago and the riding tractor lawn mower. We’ve been mowing our lawn every other day since May. OH!!! Got to go, I see some sun!!!

Thunder and rain has returned. Glad I went out and enjoyed a few minutes of sunshine.

D’s and I are are finishing up a 5-day visit here at my mother’s in Cape Cod.
The fact that I’m posting here on CC instead of biking, swimming, walking the flats, etc is an indication of the weather we’ve been having… From the 4th on, it’s supposed to be beautiful. Tomorrow is our last day here :(

Usually I’m whining that it’s TOO sunny or hot!

Marite - we had the most unusual mushrooms pop up in our yard. There are dozens of them, they sort of look like carrots. I have never seen anything like them before. A couple of weeks ago when they first appeared I thought someone HAD put carrots in our flower bed.

Actually, it is sunny here in PA at this moment, but it is not going to last.

^ This!

^ And this!

I will pray some of our abundant sunshine your way… please tell your rainclouds to hold it until they blow southwest!

The continental US is a gorgeous place, on average. ;)

It’s pouring outside (Connecticut) as I write this. It has been raining on and off for weeks with very few sunny days. It does make everything beautifully green, but it hasn’t been much of a summer so far. I feel like I’m living in Seattle – enough already.

I work at a beach and it has been deserted. The upside of this is I’m essentially getting paid to play cards.

Rain, rain, go away, go visit another state today!
