<p>Nope. But I don’t think I’m going to be getting one since my dad still has yet to finish his taxes for me so that I could put in my FAFSA and what’s even worse is that I know I could have gotten at least some grants. I’m guessing it’s too late now though.</p>
<p>well im sure with your stats you should be able to get some outside scholarships, i passed by one of the Plano high schools for the first time the other day and they are really nice compared to DallasISD schools. lol their the high schools from Teen movies</p>
<p>Yeah last year I went to a school with a graduating class of 357 and zero money and now I go to a school the size of a small college campus. it’s definitely straight out of the movies.</p>

<p>Wow after reading through this thread I am shocked as to how UT denied people with Ivy League type stats.</p>
<p>^ It’s the stupid top10%/8% rule or whatever it is now. It seriously harms UT in national rankings because they have to admit somebody from some easy small town poor education school that ranked top 3%, even if they got a 20 on the ACT and a 1200/2400 on the SAT, never took an AP test, and has virtually no EC’s.</p>

<p>It’s just that I personally know people that had much lower stats in comparison and got into tough programs like Plan 2, BME, and McCombs.</p>
<p>I find it confusing as hell for UT to deny people with 2200+ on the SATs and 750+ on multiple subject tests, numerous AP classes, and EC’s, only to accept non top10%ers with overall lower stats.</p>

That is the way Texas lawmakers want their state school to operate. Wrong or right, they are more concerned about providing access to the top 10% of students In-State regardless of the quality of their high schools. Students in poor/bad Texas high schools have equal access to UT if they can graduate in the top 10% of their disadvantaged schools.</p>

I went to Summer Orientation and I met valedictorians from schools and they had B’s, at our school, we had 30 Valedictorians. 10 Saludatorians. Our top ten percent was the vale + salud. There were so many people who should have gotten into UT but got denied or capped. i was one of the luckier ones I guess</p>
<p>My son is a student at Plano West, and he is a good student 3.7 GPA, SAT 2110, 4 AP classes, Track, Band, NHS, national Hispanic, and rank is only 400 out of 1020. It is a very rigourous cirriculum. Because of his ranking, he will have a hard time getting into his choice schools.</p>

<p>UT recognizes Plano schools and takes into account the competition. He should still have a chance. Top 10% in Plano is equivalent to top 2% in other cities.</p>

<p>Damn… I really hope i get in. My school is just so damn competitive. Valedictorian has taken most if not all APs and gotten 5s, salutatorian got 2400, and number 3 already has a full ride scholarship to MIT… </p>
<p>I’m in the top 23, SAT: 600 CR 650 M and 730 W, 3.82 GPA, got 2 5s on the APs I took, varsity sport all 4 yrs, 160+ volunteering hours, VP/treasury of clubs, lived in 6 different countries, have a job, good essays/rec AND STILL WILL HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING IN!</p>
