anyone please help me wif these maths concepts?

wat does sin(a number) mean? i mean it’s always like sin(a degree)…

and wat does e mean? i kind of remember it means unit vector but i believe there’s another explaination to it.

sin is the ratio of two sides of a triangle. it’s primarily used to find the side of a triangle of the angle of a triangle if you have two sides of a triangle.

sin = opposite side of the ANGLE / hypotenuse of TRIANGLE (longest side)

for example if you had a this triangle (yeah, don’t make fun of my triangle)

|\

| (\ 5

4

say i told you the angle between side length 4 and side length of 5 was 60 degrees, and i want you to find the other side, side “x” (the unlabeled vertical side). so based upon our formula SIN = OPPOSITE / HYPOTENUSE

opposite side to angle = x
hypotenuse = 5
angle = 60

sin (angle) = opposite / hypotenuse
sin 60 = x / 5
x = 5sin60

so just stick 5 * sin(60) into your calculator and you have the length of x! which should be 3. =P

look @ http://www.ac.wwu.edu/~vawter/PhysicsNet/Topics/Vectors/MeaningOfSine.html

AND, e is a number - kinda like phi and pi.
e = 2.71828183
if i remember correctly, it’s used in exponential graphs like log and ln…

ohh, thanks very much for ur help! :slight_smile: xxx
