I have a friend who was well connected in the restaurant business and taking home 50k a year. He woke up one day, decided he didn’t want to be in the same place 10 years from now and walked away to go back to school.

It was the same for me. I’m walking away from 33k a year with full benefits (like state retirement). My moment of clarity was during my annual review when asked where I see myself in 5 years. The only thing I could think of was “not here.”

Neither of us ever imagined ourselves going to college…

Any grown folks want to share their “moment of enlightenment”?
