Anyone take a 1/2 year off?

Anyone take a half year off their freshman year as a result of AP transfer credits? Is this allowed in private colleges such as Boston University, Boston College, and Tufts?
I'm getting AP credits in Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, Micro and Macro Economics, Environmental Science, and Psychology.

I wouldn't recommend doing it, as you'll miss out on meeting a lot of people if you skip the first semester (unless you were planning to take the spring semester off)
Personally I would suggest taking a full year off or using those AP credits as a way to do a minor or a second major that you wouldn't have had time for otherwise.

I was thinking about taking a year off before college but then found out that my parents would no longer be reponsible for me (health insurance, etc.) and I def. can't afford to pay for that myself. If you are planning to not even be on campus...you might want to find out if this situation would apply to you.

Go in your first year, use your AP credits to take a semester off later when you've established friendships and need a break from school. It doesn't make sense to try to take your first semester off- colleges will just have you to start in the spring and graduate exactly four years later, not 3 1/2.

It's more common to see people take a semester off in their sophomore or junior years.
