Wanted to know if boxmydorm.com is a reliable solution to store our daughters belonging’s over summer break. Thank you kindly

looks interesting. My S needs to store just his bedding this year, maybe a few books. Worth a look.

Looks expensive when you look at the details but I haven’t compared the alternatives.

Actually, my son at Brandeis has used it for the past 2 years and it’s good. I did a lot of homework investigating these other companies, many of them don’t give you the time of day, these guys held through all my nosy questions. Compared to the other services it’s prices are not bad. Best of all, everything came when it was supposed to. I say go for it, use boxmydorm.com

Look at storage facilities in the college town. Last summer I paid $35 for the entire summer because I split a unit with a friend and we got 2 months free. Storage people especially value college student business and will often give steep discounts.

I agree re: the you-store-it in the college town – for half the price of their “mini storage locker” (3 boxes), d is renting a 5 x 10 storage room. She’s sharing it (and splitting the cost) with a friend w/a futon and some other bulky items to store, and they will have anytime access to the stuff as they are moving out/back in.

Our S rented the largest storage unit possible for just $1 for a month, plus some minor processing fees. He was able to get all of his & D’s stuff into the place & store it between apartment leases & then moved it back out. Shop around–there are deals out there if your child is interested in finding them. Another option that can work is having kiddo store stuff at an apartment of a friend in labeled bags/boxes (e.g. under the bed, in the bedroom no one is using for the summer, or in whatever space or sharing a rental unit). Our kids have done this as well & it has worked out well for all of them.

Many kids with storage challenges don’t have transportation to the storage places. It sounds like the box my dorm service could be very helpful in those cases.

The service was not that bad, but there is no way you can talk to actual people and they keep charging your credit card after they had return your stuff even months after. So you have to be making claims to your credit card.
