Anyone Twitter?

So I’m at the gym ridiculously early this am as usual (it’s not that I’m so great it’s just that is the only time I can go) and I see this piece on the news about twitter. A guy was fired from Yahoo and posted a play by play on twitter. He ends up getting a bunch of contacts and two job offers from the experience.
One of the manufacturers I buy from has a marketing rep who has a blog. I love her blog and today her blog is about twitter. So I go to twitter and there she is…I “joined” but I’m not sure I’ll use it.
It’s a little different. Basically you post mundane stuff about what you are doing all day. You can post from your mobile…
Here is an example from the ceo of Zappos

Watched “sex and the city” with @electra. She should have brought kleenex. I should have brought a salad fork to poke my eyes out with. :)

The twitter dream reminds me of the movie “the nines” which I just saw. It was trippy. Written and directed by the writer of “go”. about 16 hours ago from txt
So now I am twittering about dreaming about twittering about the show twittering. It’s all very confusing to me, I hope this is not a dream. about 17 hours ago from web

Weird dream: Dreamt I was watching Law & Order & the detectives were twittering. Then I dreamt I twittered out about the show twittering. about 17 hours ago from web

Back in Vegas… took a 3 hour nap as soon as I got home, still tired, but it’s great to be back home! about 17 hours ago from web

Airport security in London claims luggage too big for carry on, but luggage ok as carry on from Vegas, same plane. Plane shrinks going west? 01:15 AM June 08, 2008 from txt

So dear CCers what do you think? Is it interesting? Boring? or just plain strange…I truthfully haven’t decided…

I honestly don’t see the point. One of the administrators at my son’s school twitters - mundane stuff - just like your example. Totally boring and useless.
A few years ago, I noticed that folks were using cell phones to talk about the most mundane things. “Hey, I’m walking down 5th avenue…” Now, everyone seems to text instead. And this just seems like a public form of texting.
I like Blogs - at least there’s usually enough meat there to make it worth reading (some of them… not all of them. They can be really bad too).
Don’t think I’ll be jumping on soon.
But I did finally break down and get a blackberry…with a cool gps feature that I love. Makes it easier to text with my son too…full keyboard. I’m even getting pretty good with the thumbs…

I don’t know how anyone has time to post on twitter.

That said, my 19 yr. old son does. I can read his twitter online while I’m at work and know whether he’s home or working or whatever. Just a way to keep up with him as he’s still sleeping when I leave at 7am, then he’s usually at work when I get home at 6:30pm; and sometimes I go to bed before he gets home at night. Sometimes we can go days without actually seeing each other, so with twitter I feel like I can keep up.

Not sure I’ll really use it. DS has a blackberry and we have blackberry IM. Between Blackberry IM and AIM I really don’t need to hear more than I already do. Not sure I want the random stuff from a bunch of other people. My own family is boring enough.
