<p>Son will be doing the NASA Larss summer internship up in Hampton VA. He’ll be staying in the internship housing, which I think might be a little overpriced for an apartment shared with 3 others, but the logistics of finding something for 10 weeks long distance were just too complicated. My original impulse was to have him not take a vehicle, his truck is ill-suited for the drive from Texas to Virginia, and my budget doesn’t really allow for extras in that department. But now, we received the lease for the housing and the apartment address and it doesn’t look like the apartment is near anything, no grocery, Walmart, Dollar General. The housing is in Newport News VA. He’s emailing the program contacts to see what the standard is, do most interns bring a vehicle. His mentor suggested if he had one to bring it, as transportation was difficult. NASA says if they stay in the intern housing, they will make sure that they can get to Langley for work everyday, but nothing is mentioned about getting anywhere else. Does anyone have any experience with the program or know anything about Newport News Va. Thanks</p>
