Is it too late to send an updated letter?

Well, Cornell’s acceptance rate has been released…this indicates that the Class of 2010 has already been selected. So my answer is “no.”

Oops I meant “yes.”

what about non deferrees? Just regular RD ppl?

It’s pretty much over for every applicant except if you’re a person that has been wait listed (You, of course, wouldn’t know this yet though). The Class of 2010 has been already chosen according to the info that’s been released earlier. :)

I didn’t know Cornell has already released their acceptance rate for the class of 2010. You’d think they would be deciding up until the last minute especially in light of the recent problem with the SAT.

I just read about the acceptance rate. It just states how many applications they received and how many spots they have available which of course gives you the acceptance rate.

I don’t personally believe they have made all of the decisions for admissions. Often, decisions are made up until the last minute (March 30).

The issue is not the fact that they’ve made their final decisions, but rather them receiving the update in a timely manner AND them filing it. They probably get hundreds of updates daily and I bet a lot of them don’t get filed properly in time even for last minute decisions.

21% cant reflect the spots they have available and applications received only, as this does not factor in yield.

there are probably like 10% of spots available for all applications given, and so 21% must take into account percent that will matriculate, so i imagine decisions ARE done.

^^ Once they receive all the applications, in this case – 28,000 and know how many spots they have available, an acceptance rate can be determined w/o actually accepting any applicants. This rate could have been calculated 2 months ago (21%)

The yield is only calculated (although they do estimate based on historical data) after the applicants matriculate.

Based on this years applications (28,000), they know they can only enroll 3,000. They accept 21% (5880) because they figure their yield will be approximately 50%.

I really doubt decisions are done. Admissions needs all the time they can get.

I think they havent made their decisions yet becuz they waived my TOEFL requirement 3-4 days ago…
