Does anybody know where I can find the sheet music for the song “anytime” by William Finn. I know that the song is in the Elegies vocal selections but does anyone know where I can find the single song becuase I don’t feel like dishing out the money for a whole show’s book.
Thanks!

A friend of one of my Ds was looking for it last summer and had no luck, and ended up purchasing the vocal selections book. It’s a beautiful song and I had the pleasure of seeing the show last week! Mr. Finn is such a talented man. Are you singing it for school or is this just for your own pleasure? :)

I wanted to add it to my book for auditions. And I was considering singing it as a duet with a friend for graduation in June.

I’m thinking I might just go buy the whole book.

Although it’s a beautiful song, it’s not really a song for a teenage girl. The song is about a mother who is dying of cancer who is singing it to her daughter. I can’t really imagine it as a duet or at a graduation ceremony! :)

I think it can be used that way taken out of context of what it was originally meant to be. Chances are people at my graduation won’t who William Finn is let alone the context of this song…But I do understand your point.

And I’m a guy by the way…

i believe it is ONLY available in the vocal selections (or the complete score, obviously), but it is a really beautiful song.

there are a lot of great pieces in there (i LOVE “infinite joy”, and have heard it sung by guys and it sounds AWESOME), so it might be worth it just to buy it.

typecastme, well, if you’re a guy, you’re in luck! There are many wonderful songs in Elegies for the guys. I agree with sporti that the show has many great pieces, and having the selections book would probably be beneficial. I’m hoping to get to see the show one more time this weekend, it’s been a big hit here in Toronto.

Ok awesome. Maybe I will just go out and buy the whole book.

Thanks for your help!
