anyway to find out early?

I was accepted EA to MIT and also applied to Harvard. I need to plan my trip to Boston for the MIT CPW and was planning on visiting harvard as well…

Is there anyway they would tell you somewhat earlier than April? I just need to know what plane tickets to buy :[

No, I don’t think so. Can you imagine what would happen if they made an exception for one applicant?

axiomatic- Buy fully refundable plane tix. Problem solved.

:[ I hate these late notifications.

I have heard something about notification on the 28th of March. This is anecdotal, however. I do not know any other details let alone if it is/was true.

<<no, i=“” don’t=“” think=“” so.=“” can=“” you=“” imagine=“” what=“” would=“” happen=“” if=“” they=“” made=“” an=“” exception=“” for=“” one=“” applicant?=“”>></no,>

Yes. That person would be nationally recognized as someone worthy of being most favored by Harvard.

The only way to find out early is if you get a Likely Letter. Those are incredibly rare.

You could just get to Boston on Thursday morning and plan to use that time to tour/whatever around Harvard. If you get in, you’ll have many hours at Harvard, since from looking at the CPW schedule, it sounds like nothing goes on until the evening. If you get rejected, it’s not that much time, and you could go chill at a museum or something.

I have the same problem though, perhaps exaggerated since when I went to Harvard last spring, they only gave us an info session and no tour. So I empathize.

just walk half a mile over to harvard

The schools are a half hour walk apart. You easily can visit Harvard when you visit MIT.

Everyone will be buying last minute expensive tickets if they’re accepted to a school on 4/1 and have to decide by 5/1 and haven’t visited. I’m HOPING that’s our problem.

But…

If you really MUST know early, whether or not you’ve been admitted to Harvard, well…you can actually calculate it yourself - just see Northstarmom’s thread on that subject. Teeheehee

What date do they come out? Is it always April 1st or is it a couple of days early? I’m talking about the majority of applicants. Their website says April, but I’ve heard people getting responses back in March (not likely letters).

Decisions usually come out at the end of March.

Usually March 31 at 5 PM EST.

It’s not that I want to “visit” Harvard, I have visited before. I want to be able to stay with a Harvard student. I was also accepted to Caltech and really the only thing I have to decide is how I like the student life at these three places (if I also get Harvard).
