It’s been known to happen where the AO will call to get clarification on a topic, or ask for further detail on a rec, as examples. Depending on the school (either the new school or the old school) it may not happen often, but it does happen.
My kids go to a K-8 feeder school and the secondary school guidance counselor has made it clear that those phone calls happen regularly between her and the schools. AOs will ask for clarification on recs, ask where they rank on a students list of choices, etc. Our counselor often knows the admissions decisions ahead of M10 but makes it clear she cannot share those with parents or students.
