AP Bio: Structure and Function

Can anybody list some good examples of structure and function? I have a feeling we might see an essay question on that.

small intestines.

lots of villi and microvilli for absorption…

What do you mean by “list examples”? There are infinite options!

Nephrons in the kidneys; accordion-like folds of the stomach which allow for expansion and the ability to store up to 2-4 L of material; villi/microvilli in the small intestine increase the surface area allowing for the increased absorption of nutrients; red blood cells; the structure of a neuron; cristae (inner-foldings) of the inner-mitochondrial membrane; enzyme regulation (structure of inhibitors); operon regulation… there are a ton more. Hopefully others will contribute. :)

Lymphatic system - highly organized network of specialized tissues and vessels which removes interstitial fluid from body tissue, carries chyle to the circulatory system, aids the immune system (carries dendritic cells to the lymph nodes)

Yeah, these are pretty easy. I’ve just been pretty brain dead lately…
Anyways, there is also the root system in plants, with the root hairs to increase surface area, which increases water absorption
Also, would talking about how aveoli are very small, allowing them to diffuse gases easily between cells, count as S/F?

Of course it would!
