AP Biology Self-Study Prep Book

Hi, I just finished sophomore year and this summer along with next year I plan to self-study AP Biology.

Next Year's APs:

AP English Lang
AP US History
AP Physics B
AP Calculus AB
AP Micro Economics
AP Macro Economics

So I was wondering what would be the best way to self-study AP Biology? I currently have Barron's from a friend who took it this year and I am wondering if I should another book.

I liked Barron's, but let's wait for the test results before drawing conclusions about its success.

If you want a rigorous self-study, you should get Campbell. You can get some cheap used copies of an old edition on Amazon: Amazon.com: Used and New: Biology, 6th Edition

Campbell has way too much information, but it's the textbook.

Cliffs is generally regarded as the king of prep books when it comes to AP Bio. I also used REA's Crash Course, which was not bad. I've heard both good and bad things about Barron's, some saying it contains too much unnecessary information, but I can't verify that.

Read CliffsAP Biology. Know everything in there and you'll be set.

Cliff's is very popular on CC. Campbell is just a waste of time if you want to prepare for the AP test, but it is good if you are truly interested in knowing a lot about biology.

For what it's worth, I hate Campbell. But you won't find as much information anywhere else.

Definitely Cliffs

I am a sophomore soon to be junior, and I plan to take AP Biology, along with AP US History, AP Microeconomics, AP English Language and Composition, and AP Music Theory (and possibly AP Macroeconomics). Is there a difference between Cliffs and CliffNotes? I notice that the new CliffNotes AP Biology comes with a CD, while the Cliffs AP Biology doesn't. What are the differences?

Considering my classes, for which courses would Cliffs (or CliffNotes) be the best?

Thanks!

By the way, sorry if it seems like I'm trying to divert attention. My question was Similar to the OP's question, and we all know of the multitude of forums on CC. :)

No problem Douglas :)

So Cliffs+Barrons=Good?
