Please we are in dire need of help…my senior has ap calcus ab and his current grade is d …we are extremely nervous and worried…he never scored below b+ ever. Please guide us…sleepless nights…dealing with d grade very first time and that too at crucial time…
It depends where he want to go to school next. A D on a non-required course Sr year may keep him out of a top UC, Cal States still don’t like Ds but, probably won’t keep him out. Private schools are a mixed bag, I"d suggest he either drop the course or get a tutor.

Thanks…did bad on couple of tests but still can work hard.let’s see, cannot drop course as per school policy…not interested in tutor…he knows his concepts but makes silly mistakes…trying to work with him…going thru calculus after 2 decades
OK, but speaking from the experience of our house and several high schoolers in our neighborhood, a good tutor can help bring up a grade – and it is best not to wait until it is too late.

He needs to start by talking to the teacher. It is very early in the semester for things to be going that poorly, and he needs to understand how to fix it if he is going to dig his way out in the next three months.
