AP Calculus BC credit question

Lets say i get a 5 on the AB part of the AP Calculus BC exam but get a 3 on the BC part, will universities such as Rice and Vanderbilt still give me AB credit?

“Although each college and university sets its own policy for awarding credit and/or placement for AP Exam grades, it is recommended that institutions apply the same policy to the Calculus AB subscore grade that they apply to the Calculus AB grade. Use of the subscore grade in this manner is consistent with the philosophy of the courses, since common topics are tested at the same conceptual level in both Calculus AB and Calculus BC.” --Calculus course description.

So, using your examples, Rice gives credit ([AP & IB Credit | Office of the Registrar | Rice University](http://registrar.rice.edu/students/ap_ib.aspx)). So does Vanderbilt ([Admissions: Vanderbilt University](http://www.vanderbilt.edu/Admissions/prosFrAPIB.php)), as long as you get a certain AB subscore. It’s up to the specific college to choose to give credit and how.

Usually yes. AB subscore = AB score
