I won’t ask a ton of deep probing questions, because it appears that you are in 8th or 9th grade, and many things can change between now and 12th grade. Additionally, none us know the curriculum at your school. However, a couple of quick points:
• Astrology??? Not what I’d consider a must-have course.
• AP World History and AP USH together will be a killer. Tons of reading and you’ll probably have major research papers due at the same time.
• AP Calc BC is preferable to AP Statistics
• Stopping after Spanish 2 will limit your college options.
I am in 11 grade- I chose astrology since I have no particular interest in sciences & to ease my schedule. Ap world & us history together actually were very easy. I do not think I’m ready to take calc bc personally. I did not have strong skills in Spanish (foreign language) so I hoped that having a heavier curriculum would make up for that. Thank you for your reply!
1° You need foreign language up to level 3, 4, or AP. Top colleges will expect 4 or AP.You can also take a foreign language in community college up to level 3 such as College German 1, 2, 3 (college language is much faster paced so that college forieng language = high school language 1+2 and COllege Language 3 covers up to Level 4 or AP depending on the college).
2° APUSH+APWH sounds like a dreadful combination - better spread that out over two years
3° Probably a typo, but you realize astrology is NOT a science class? It’s as if you had “tarot and divination arts” on your list…
You have more than enough AP classes while suboptimal for world language. After certain number of AP that make your schedule to be considered “most rigor” by your GC, additional AP has little advantage other than getting the credit if you score well in the exam. It is good to take as many AP classes as you can handle though, as long as your GPA is not suffered from it. You will be more competitive even with half as many AP but GPA 4.0 and 4 years of world language that with all these AP, GPA 3.8, and 2 years of world language.
If you can, I would take Bio, Chem, Physics and AP version of one of those unless you completely know you don’t want to take any kind of a STEM Major. I woudl still take Bio, Chem, Physics at least.
I don’t think AP environmental is better than Honors Physics. Not sure if you would get AP credit for environmental science but check out the college of choice and see what they say.
I’m planning on taking Ap biology instead of AP european history since it is looked more highly upon. I want to take more AP because my college choosing offers lots of credit for it. Thanks for all the help.
Actually, both AP Euro and AP Bio are considered “core” APs, and are thus considered the same.
However since you already have both APUsh and APWH, taking AP Bio would show academic versatility and willingness to challenge yourself in different fields.
The absence of a foreign language at a high level is a problem though, unless you’re not applying to a very competitive university.
No it’s not. They are both looked at equally. Regardless, taking an AP course based upon how one perceives a college will “look upon” it is just folly. That said, since you already have 2 AP history classes, AP Bio will add a different dimension to your transcript.
