I did not put “AP Lit” on the list of APs I will be taking on my UC application, but I decided to self-study ap lit in March. Can I still send it to UC Berkeley (not sure if I’ll be going there for sure, but very, very likely)?
On a side note, does anyone have tips for self-studying AP Lit in 6 weeks AND get a 5 (I only get credit for ap lit if I get a 5- I got a 5 on the aplac test last year, but I didn’t take AP Lit- I’m self-studying)
you contact your assigned Admissions Counselor with any changes to your app, which includes adds for AP credit that you’ve added since submitting your app.
As far as tips for self-studying for AP Lit, I personally think it’s almost impossible, especially within a few weeks. Not only do you have a ton of reading on a huge list which you’ll have to do in 6 weeks, you also have to practice writing tons and tons of analysis which should be reviewed by someone in the know. I don’t know how you can shortcut it, especially since there’s a pretty large FRQ section. Maybe if you’ve already read most or all of the literature already in great detail, you could possibly do it.
@ProfessorPlum168 I’ve been preparing since January, and the lit teachers have been reviewing my essays- I just wanted more general tips.
Do I need to send Cal an email or can I just send all the AP scores when I take them?
@harrypotter112 ok that’s good…I suppose I should ask why you just didn’t take the class…anyhow, analysis, analysis and more analysis, along with reading comprehension, but you probably know that already. It’s just a really really tough course with discussion and it’ll be even tougher without the group discussion IMO.
You can send an email to Admissions, but from personal experience you will get more traction by sending an email to whoever your Admissions counselor is. If you look at your portal, someone should be assigned to you if you’ve already been accepted.
@ProfessorPlum168 okay, thank you! and yeahh, not taking AP Lit was one of my biggest regrets in high school and that’s why I chose to self-study.
Well since you got a 5 on AP Lang you get to skip one of the 1 writing classes already, so I wouldn’t stress too much if you didn’t get a 5 for AP Lit. There are a lot of choices from many different areas (anything from Sports Management to Italian as examples) for your 2nd writing class, should you not get that 5.
