AP Credit towards Major

<p>Hey all, I am confused about AP credit regarding majors.</p>

<p>So I have viewed the website that lists how many units of credit each AP exam will get you ([AP</a> Credit - College of Letters and Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](<a href=“http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm]AP”>http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm)), but I am trying to understand if it counts towards actual courses. </p>

<p>So, for example, AP Comp Gov gets me 4.0 units in “Comparative Gov’t”–does that mean Poli Sci 50?</p>

<p>And if it does mean Poli Sci 50, will that count towards the Poli Sci major requirements?</p>

<p>Sorry if this is a stupid question, I’m just trying to figure out whether I should take PS50R this fall.</p>

<p>Generally if it doesn’t have a course number there, you aren’t getting specific credit. I don’t know the poli sci requirements specifically, but generally if there is a course number there it fills any requirements that course would fill (except for GE).</p>

<p>Don’t forget that PS6R and 50R are corequisites.</p>

<p>I have the same question though, but for AP U.S. Government.</p>
