My school never really offered AP classes seeing that I live in South Korea and attend a small “foreign” school.

So this year, my schedule is:
Day 1
AP World History
Psychology (or AP Calc AB/BC)
US/World Government
AP Literature
French II

Day 2
AP World History
Psychology (or AP Calc AB/BC)
AP Biology
AP US History
French II

and I was wondering how hard are these AP classes overall? Is this course load a killer? Can I afford to self-study AP Psychology, Gov, Evi Sci, and Stats with my current schedule? Even if I start working on most of it during the summer?
Thanks,
Wheezy

Those are all good classes, especially sine you’ve got alot of AP classes. But is it possible for you to get AP Psychology instead of regular? and AP US/World Government? If you can, I’d recommend taking those, unless your grade suffers.

BTW, I live in America but I’m in 서울, South Korea right now for research internship! Staying at my relatives’ homes lol.

Lucky, I won’t be heading up there for a long time due to summer classes I have at the moment. But, I’m currently in Busan.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to self-study AP Psychology and supplement it with the regular class or I’m going to replace the regular psychology class with AP Calc AB (self study the BC part) as my current math teacher suggests.
As for the government class, there are no APs for it but I’ll have to see if he’s teaching comparative or US gov to decide which AP test I’ll self study for.

Just wondering, how did you manage to get a research internship? Sorry, I’m assuming that you’re in high school. I can’t find any interesting internship regarding science for high schoolers here :/

hehe my dad is close friends with a professor at seoul university who studies stem cell research. my sister did it couple years ago and told me it was a good experience.

yea, but i also applied to local colleges/universities at my state, but none of them responded. it’s pretty hard to get in without any relations or a really outstanding application.

It isn’t exactly killer, but it is definitely very rigorous. However, I’d recommend taking AP Calc… it’s nice to have a math class every year.

@StrangeCamus Hmm that’s interesting. My father is a professor at Busan Nation Univ here and I could always ask for a internship in his lab but trying to find significant work without familial connection is pretty damn hard in Korea.

@Equilibrium: Just wondering, but what would make this a killer schedule? If I do take AP Calc, I am taking 5 AP classes and self-studying four. Not that I’m trying to kill myself or anything… Just curious since I don’t know what more I can do seeing that my school doesn’t offer anything else…

I didn’t say “killer” b/c i didn’t want to scare you… with 8-9 APs it’s definitely one of the most challenging schedules ever… 9 APs in ONE year is way above most applicants even for HYPSM. oh… and i didn’t read the part where you said you’d be self-studying four APs. >_<

However, really, you’re doing quite a lot… you probably know this, but lemme just remind you that you really don’t need NINE APs to be in good shape for top colleges… Even as an international applicant, 5-6 APs is very competitive… nine is just kinda crazy. Just remember that as a teen, there’s a lot more to life (and college admissions) than how rigorous your class schedule is.
