<p>We have to read ‘Their Eyes Were Watching God’ and ‘Hedda Gabler’; they have to be fully annotated (‘copiously’, the word they used) with 25 vocabulary words to display that one was an active reader.</p>
<p>When summer break ends, we apparently have an essay, discussion, and test on them as well.</p>
<p>I’ve had 2-3 books and 3-4 essays over the summer in 9th & 10th grade Honors English. The AP Lang assignment isn’t as bad as other years</p>

<p>The nice thing is that the only thing we have to do with the books is (other than reading obviously) do at least 8 journal entries per book which is 40 pages. In a way I wish it was formal essays because I don’t like reading journals but whatever. Oh, and we have a 100 point test on the first day of school!</p>
<p>^I’ve read Crime and Punishment before. It’s an excellent novel about an axe murderer, a prostitute, and a pedophile… ;)</p>
<p>Anyways, I was not assigned any summer reading, but I asked my teacher for some suggestions. So far I’ve read Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Stranger. Both books were fantastic!</p>
<p>Have to write a 3 page essay pretending I’m the writer explaining the choices I made.
Then present the essay to the class.</p>
