I received a C on my first AP English exam. If I don’t take AP English, there won’t be much weight added to my GPA. Many of my peers scored higher than me. Should I flat out drop the course if I failed that hard?
Isn’t a C passing?
Don’t drop it and eventually you will get better.
Just remember the C doesn’t define you and you shouldn’t drop the course unless you feel that it’s a barrier. Don’t use the exam as an excuse to drop it. Look for the mistakes you made, fix them so you won’t make the same mistakes again.
A C is better than a F. If your school is semester-based, you still have time to raise it up so use it wisely.
Don’t rely on one test to predict your future grade. If you’re worried, ask your teacher about their opinion, and if they have any advice.
Are you taking the class for the grade or to learn? If it’s the latter, talk to the teacher. Ask how you can improve. Ask if you can review drafts with him/her prior to submitting. Writing is a critical skill, and this sounds like a good way to work toward mastery of it. If the teacher really thinks that you don’t belong in the class, move. But if you want to learn, this is how you do it!
@cxprus is right – the first grade of the year is not the grade for the year.
