@JoeyPapagobich I actually did write 4 full pages! How did you know
Does length really matter? I’m worried because I only wrote two pages for both the second and the third essay. I had 5 paragraphs for the second and 4 for the third. The synthesis was only a but longer, with like 1/3 of a page more. I feel like I wrote everything i needed to though, and covered all the topics I was going to. How do people even reach 3/4 pages like??
@wormholes LOLOL thank you for the positive words of encouragement. Does anyone know how difficult it is ton score an 8 on the essays? I read the 2007 sample essays that received 8’s and honestly they weren’t that good and weren’t that impressive. They simply addressed the prompt and didn’t go off topic too much.
@Maneighnah717 It’s pretty rare i’d say only 2/100 essays get an 8+ according to my teacher.
@wormholes I did a counter for the third example too and I dont think it should be an issue. However, I did argue the opposite way. I used 1984, china/Tiananmen square, and the counter refuted how the MLK Jr. led to social progress through citing racial issues in the modern day.
I don’t think length matters I’ve read 8 and 9s that were 2 pages @shezhushe
haha i write alot more. think my synthesis was around 4-5 pages, rhetorical around 3-4, and argument around 4. and really, 2/100 get 8+?? seems way too little. based on college board grading, 8 doesnt seem that hard to get at all.
@Maneighnah717 haha good luck!
@ssing714 ohh that’s interesting. Hopefully both ways should be acceptable.
For the argument essay is it ok if all your examples were historical? I didn’t include personal or literary because I had the most historical. I think my arguments were well thought out.
@wormholes thats totally fine, mine was the same way
@a20171 Thanks! It’s how much i usually write and my practice exams, marked by teachers, were fine but the fact that everyone has like 3 pages ( or even more) scares me lol
Did any of y’all self study for this AP? I’m switching schools next year and one of the schools I’m looking at only allows 2 APs per year and I already have calc and physics. I still want to take the lang AP because I don’t want to do english in college, so is self studying doable?
@wormholes Same!!! In my essay, I said that she wanted to persuade her audience that Ronald Reagan was a great president, but I dont know if I should’ve done that
@annana It honestly is. All u need to do is review MC questions from previous exams and essays as well, other than that there is nothing to it (maybe some rhetorical terms).
I honestly don’t think it is very hard to get a 7-8, maybe a 9 yes, but I felt my essays could’ve all been 7-8 scores
For the third one, I didn’t account for a possible counter argument. However, I did cite many relevant examples and was very resolute in my reasoning.
@Dartmouth_21 Ok sweet!
@1601er ohh i see that makes sense actually, i could definitely see that as a purpose of the essay. and yeah, i feel the same…it does not seem that hard to score in the 7-9 range, 6 minimum. but i should probably not say anything and then end up being embarrassed
@wormholes I feel u ahahah
