So what did everyone say for the 3 frqs? Here’s what I said:
1st: Disagree against disadvantage (i regret doing this since most of the sources countered my argument). Mentioned sources B, C,D and I think F?
2nd: Rhetorical strategies- personal structure, parallel structure, projection
3rd: Agreed with Wilde to a certain extent, said limitations were necessary. Mentioned the constitution, instances in history, a personal memory, and North Korea LOL.
I just need 6s on my essays, I think my MC will carry me to a 5
How many points will be deducted if I misidentified metonymy as aphorism in the rhetorical analysis? I usually get 7s and 8s on the rhetorical analysis and I was hoping for my writing to be my strong point on the exam, but some people have told me a mistake like that can put me at a 4 for that essay
@autocraticllama The rhetorical analysis isn’t about being able to correctly name the rhetorical device used but more about demonstrating how using that device furthered the author/speaker’s argument.
Got a 5! Shocked really, I’m terrible at English. And we learned next to no rhetorical analysis terms either this year. I was kind of riffing during most of it. The argumentation was easy enough from what I can recall. I don’t remember the DBQ in the slightest. The MC went iffy for me if I recall.
Easy af exam to be honest, those free responses were a breeze and the multiple choice was a joke save for one passage if I recall, surprised I’m not that one with the perfect score, solid 5 tho
5 here too! I thought the MC section (minus the first passage TF that was hard to wade through) was fairly straightforward as were the essays. My teacher didn’t have us do much essay practice (we wrote like three essays total all year) so I was really relieved
5! That exam was ez $$. MC was the only slightly iffy part. Essays were a breeze, didn’t start on the last one until 20 min left lol bc i wrote like 4 pages for the Thatcher one
Got a 4, which is fantastic considering I wasn’t taught the course at all (my school doesn’t really prioritize AP classes so my teacher didn’t really know what he was teaching, I didn’t learn anything about rhetorical analysis so i still don’t know how I managed that part) so I will definitely take it! My entire class felt incredibly unconfident on the exam, so its a huge relief.
got a 3 and very surprised as to why. I write better than most of my classmates and did not find the mc part to be very problematic. I usually get 7.5’s and 8’s (very rarely 6’s) on essays in class that reflect what the prompts on the actual ap exams are like (my teacher grades essays off of the ap rubric scale). The mc was very similar to what the reading and writing section of the SAT were like, and I got above 700’s on both sections. I believe collegeboard may have messed up my score. Should I restore? Many people from my class who slacked off the entire year and winged the ap exam got 4’s or higher, so I genuinely believe that college board messed up.
@Maneighnah717 same situation here. Always at least 4 or higher on practice tests. also earned a high A+ in the class and ended up with a 3. Just don’t understand.
They say only the MC is rescored. Took an alternate exam, I don’t know if that is something to take note or not.
The grade guidelines aren’t really a “rubric”–they’re deeply subjective at every level. In my experience, many teachers score their students essays far too generously.
