<p>I don’t think it will hurt or help you. As they will read the essays or whatever before reaching your message. They will probably have formulated an opinion by then.</p>

Please DON’T!! The readers grade the essays using a scoring guide. You’re just wasting time and paper. While it won’t affect your grade either way, you are just annoying the readers and may affect the grading of other papers down the line. Saying “please grade nicely” assumes that you are being graded based on their opinion, not the grading standards. “need a 5 on this exam” is true for EVERYONE who takes the exam.</p>
