It was inside one of the links that was posted earlier.

EDIT: Just realized it says practice exam.

lol i already did that :confused: i got a 4 ;-;

Did you guys remember any examples for certain topics like conflicts? If so which ones?

The FRQs always say it’s not enough to list just facts and use examples where appropriate.

uhh Yugoslavia, Canada is all I can remember

what is the difference between assimilation and acculturation

Assimilation is when one culture completely replaces a weaker one.

Acculturation is when a weaker culture adopts traits from another one.

alright gracias

Alright I promised myself I’d get a lot of sleep (8 hours). Good luck :P

So I just took the 2008 released exam and got a 73-75 raw score. I’m scared because I’m cutting it so close. I’m also scared that the FRQs will be as hard as the ones on the 2008 exam and that the questions will ask random crap I don’t know. Did anyone else see a bunch of crap on the MC that they didn’t know?

Oh god yes that mc was… just bad for me. I’m getting scared for this exam, and its starting to get late for that.

hey guys. its 12:41am. im self-studying. havent started studying yet. yay.

taking the exam in 7 hourss… hell yeaahh… i took that practice exam in class and missed like 20… so… great. =/ if this test is like all definitions n stuff… dude im set. if it’s providing examples and applying the concepts… bahahahaNO.

Which of the following developments is predicted by the von Thünen model of land use around cities?
*(A) Large-scale growing of flowers and vegetables in the Netherlands
(B) Large-scale rubber plantations in Malaysia
(C) Large-scale commercial fishing in Japan
(D) Extensive cattle raising in northern France
(E) Very large dairy farms in Utah and southern Idaho

I don’t get this one.

(D) Extensive cattle raising in northern France

Ok…
A - why couldn’t it be this?
B - Von thunen has nothing to do with rubber
C - fishing isnt in the model
D - is this because northern france is sparsely populated so it can be extensive land use?
E - Dairy farms are in the NE, and by large pop. centers. Most of Utah and Idaho is pretty sparse.

Asterick for Answer. I don’t really understand how it correlates with his model though. I chose D, FWIW. Does this question require knowledge about the population distribution of the Netherlands?

I suppose, because horticulture/diary is like the first ring around the city in the VTM… so there would have to be a lot of cities in the Netherlands to support that large amount of horticulture… but idk… every picture ive seen of the netherlands is like… grass. i hate that many of the questions require prior knowledge about certain places.

A - flowers aren’t agricultural products, von thunen has nothing to do with flowers
B - yep von thunen has nothing to do with rubber
C - same
D - extensive agriculture is located in the periphery/outer rims of a city. northern france is “out there” and it makes sense that such cattle raising would be there. just imagine paris or some french city and put the pieces together according to the model. “extensive” is a clue to the answer
E - you do not need to be aware of any information regarding dairying. by logic, you can deduct that whether a farm is “very large” or “very small” has nothing to do with von thunens model at all

you do not need to know an area’s situation or specifics just use context clues and logic

@TRUFFLIEPUFF
horticulture = flowers & vegies. horticulture is the first ring from the city, along with dairy, because they’re perishables

oh hmm didnt know that. but it still wouldnt make sense - large scale? perishables are small scale

I guess there’s a lot of cities in the netherlands that makes it large scale =/ , but I agree, I would pick D…
