AP Human Geography 2010 Prep

Isurus- Calculus is pretty useless if you’re not in a profession that requires it. I mean seriously, when will you ever use it in the real world as opposed to knowledge about politics or cultures? AP Human Geography was the most useful course I could have taken, IMO. I know so much more about the world because I decided to self-study AP Human Geo.

dylandlima- You can buy PR APHG off Amazon for about 12 dollars I believe.

I bought mine on Amazon for $15.00, but have already taken the test. So I don’t really need it any more.

Thanks so much for the help dylanandilma. I do have one more question though, have you guys heard of or ever used this study guide ([Amazon.com: AP Human Geography w/ CD-ROM (REA) (REA Test Preps) (9780738606316): Christian Sawyer: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Human-Geography-CD-ROM-Test-Preps/dp/0738606316/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1276314696&sr=1-3)?))?

@Mrluggs I think that the book looks good, but I could be wrong from having never seen/read it. I also think that whether you get the PR or Barron’s the real multiple choice on the exam is more difficult than their practice exams.

I’m going to test it out, and if needed, I’ll get the newer version of PR when it comes out in September.

I think that a better option is just buying the textbooks, take great notes on key subject matter, and not have to purchase the guidebooks, because in perspective the guidebooks are very general. The textbook covers all of the material really in depth.

would you also need a reviw book so you know what the test is like? did you do a lot of practice tests?

Yeah, wouldnt a review book help in that sense?

Okay, here’s the lowdown: The practice tests in the review books MC are much easier than the practice tests in the real exam. And doing practice FRQs isn’t really going to help you too much with the exam FRQ. The review book in APHG really isn’t a necessity.

^ I disagree… Without a review book, people like me who self-studied with no prior knowledge would not know what exactly they must learn for the exam. Always get a review book!

Well, I had the class so I guess I didn’t need a review book, but actually if you are in fact self studying, you may want the review book. It is not essential, but if you have the cash, go out and get it.

So guys!!!Got scores today. Please post your scores if you called. I didn’t call because my dad wouldn’t let me. He says,“Knowing earlier won’t change your score.” Major disappoint.

I called and got a 5. dylandlima- I hate when people say that. You’re like, “I know my score is set in stone, but that’s not the point!”

Good job Puggly, I’m also expecting a 5, but will have to wait a couple of weeks I guess. Have you ever taken an AP Exam and expected a 5 and got a 1? Or expected a 1 and got a 5?

This year was my first taking AP tests, and I guessed pretty accurately. So no.

my friends who got their scores early all got 5s, im expecting a 5 too but im still worried

Yeah this was my first year taking the tests also I’m a frosh. I took 1 AP freshman and I’m scheduled for 3 next year…Don’t know whether I’ll be able to handle it.

Which 3 do you have scheduled for next year, dylandlima?

Spanish Language, Biology, and World History. Doubt they’ll be as interesting as APHG

Talking about thinking you got a one but got a five, I seriously expected a 2 on this and got a 5. I began self-studying this literally 1.5-2 weeks before the exam. Dont do this lol. I got SUPER lucky. FRQ 1 and FRQ 3 were a gift from God, and the M.C. I must’ve been the best guesser that day. Anyways, I nearly died when I heard it on the phone today, i had to repeat a couple times to make sure i wasnt hearign wrong lol
