AP Lit- All skill or can you study for it?

So I just started my AP Lit class this year and I’ve been pretty shocked into reality…we already took some practice AP questions and wrote essays and I didn’t do that great. What is your best advice in studying for both the class and the exam? How can I improve my scores/time management/anything else?

I think its more of an acquired skill. I used to never be able to interpret passages, but I’ve slowly gotten better over the years. Just really work at interpreting the passage and focus, because eventually the answer WILL come to you, whether it takes 10 seconds or 10 minutes. And the more practice you get, the better you become at it.

I’m in AP Lit right now too, and I agree that it’s all about acquired skill. I definitely need to start practicing reading a variety of different passages and poems while actually being able to understand them. Learning to focus very intently and organizing your thoughts in your head is probably the most important aspect in trying to pass the AP test.

I think it’s acquired too. In my practice tests, I usually narrow it down to two answers that sound JUST THE SAME and always happen to pick the wrong one. So I was told to practice and start thinking the way the MCQ’s are made
