AP Lit or AP Lang?

Which one is more difficult? or are they both basically the same level of difficulty?

Thanks!

AP Lit 10char

Depending on what you have trouble with more, analyzing proses and getting the gist of it, or analyzing a novel or story and understanding the author’s effective use of figurative language, diction, and syntax.

For me, it was AP Language because i have a hard time understand a piece of prose, whereas a novel, there is over 100+ pages of the author conveying his/her sense of feelings to the reader, which makes it easier for me to grasps.

Also, do you like reading? Do you read for fun or dread reading? Do you like to write? If so, do you write creatively or more spontaneous? Are you a good timed writer or a more average timed writer? Do you write amazing thesis statements that puts a road map of your essay within the first 3-4 sentences of your intro? Or do you struggle?

Well, yes, if I stumble upon a book that I like. But, I rarely read for pleasure simply because I have no time.
About the writing, I would have to be honest and say that I don’t particularly like to write…
I would call myself an average timed writer because once I know what I’m going to write, I’m off. But of course sometimes figuring out what to write takes some time. And my thesis statements have gotten progressively better from the beginning of sophomore year till the end.

AP English Language focuses on argument, analyzing, and understanding the author’s purpose. Analyzing the rhetorical devices, diction used, and if the author succeeded what they intended.

From what I hear, AP English Lit is “easier” or “harder” depending on your interests. You deal alot more with poetry, and literary works(as it’s a literature course), and your analyzing the prose, diction, rhetorical devices, etc. There’s also different terminologies that you’ll use in AP Eng Lit that you wouldn’t necessarily use in AP Eng Lang.

~ Theos

AP Lit is usually a senior course, while AP Lang is usually a junior course. Thus, it can be surmised that AP Lang is easier. Really, I think they’re the same.

I have no idea which is more difficult but at my school lang is given junior year and lit senior year. Oh heyy, just like that person above. ^^ (:

take the ap lit class. but also take the ap lang test. you’re not going to need to study very much for ap lang.

i just finished ap lang this year and will be taking ap lit beginning this fall. ap lang focuses on the fact that ‘everything’s an argument’. analysis is a big part of ap lang. you’ll probably look at different pieces of text as opposed to full novels like in ap lit.

at my school lit is given to juniors and lang is for seniors
umm I guess my school is kinda odd eh

thats how it is at my friend’s school; they’re kinda backward.

ditto

I found ap lang to be very easy. at my school grades were almost all based on timed writings (like free response on ap test) we would have these frequently. ap lit I decided to not do mainly because im not in poetry or other literary masterpeices haha =)
