Ap Lit prep book worth it?

Is it worth getting and studying from an AP Lit Ap Test Prep book? I don’t exactly understand what the prep book would actually teach you, besides providing you a list of vocab words to memorize. If it is worth getting, which one would you recommend?

I have the Barron’s test prep book and I have to say, it’s pretty helpful. That being said, I’m not an extremely well-informed student about standardized testing (homeschooled with no guidance counselor). Things I did not know that I learned after getting the book:

-19th century literature makes up a huge portion of the test. I did not understand what they were saying at all because well frankly, no one talks like that.

 • I struggle primarily with literary terms. The multiple choice listed all these fancy literature terms that I have never seen before.

I did not learn any new vocab, but I did gain insight on my struggles and the format of the test.

Only for the multiple choice, which is much, much more based on skills than on any kind of content. Also, it’s pretty much impossible to objectively grade your own essays, even with the criteria laid out before you.
