Hi everyone,
I am a rising high school senior currently in the course selection process. I am very interested in applying to RIT’s software engineering program. I am currently taking AP Physics 1-2, which is essentially AP Physics B with a new name. While I enjoy the subject, the class is an incredibly large amount of work. At an open house I attended in the fall, I received the undergraduate curriculum for software engineering, and in my second year I will be required to take University Physics 1 and University Physics 2 (PHYS-211 and PHYS-212). For anyone who has taken these courses and AP physics B: how well did the AP prepare you for these classes? I am hesitant to take AP Physics C next year, as I understand it is even more work in an already stressful year. I do quite a large amount of studying outside of class to maintain an A, and the class is unfortunately taught by a fairly difficult teacher, who also teaches AP C. If I don’t take AP C, I will take AP statistics instead, and I have already decided that I am definitely taking AP calculus BC no matter what my decision here is. Are the university physics classes so difficult that it would be worth the stress to try AP C? Any guidance–especially from engineering students–would be much appreciated!
