Hi.
I’m using PR for self studying AP Physics C M and EM.
The examples and problems within the chapters aren’t that difficult, but many chapter review MC and FR questions that come at the end of every chapter are impossible.
They seem even harder than the practice or actual exams’ MC and FR questions on the PR book or on the CB website.
Is it supposed to be like that?
How likely are the questions which are similar to chapter review questions in difficulty to appear on the actual exams?
Thanks.

just compare it to the CB site, if u can solve those your ok, if not that review book might be to easy.
Remember there are also practice mc questions (and yes answers), in the course description check it out.

i think this book effing sucks…i just used it to study for a webassign quiz on circuits. its ■■■■■■■■…either that or my class just sucks or im dumb…im gonna fail this class i give up i dont care anymore

FloridaBoy: The PR book is awesome… Maybe your teacher is just tough… I heard that many AP teachers tend to make students do questions much harder in difficulty than those in actual AP exams.

todpose: I agree with you 100%. The end of chapter problems are extremely difficult sometimes, and nearly always harder than actual AP problems. The reason for this is the PR book is meant to teach/review the material in condensed sections (electrostatics, circuits, newton’s laws, rotational motion, etc…all separate from each other)…the end problems are intended to be used as a further learning tool, not to simulate actual AP problems. On the exam, there will only be three questions to assess your knowledge of the entire body that is mechanics (or E+M), and they will necessarily be less focused, more broad, etc. PR gives you three focused questions on a single topic, and can’t really be compared to the exam.

Hah, have you looked at the questions on the mock AP C exam at the back of PR? There’s one on non-inertial reference frames and an elevator that’s an absolute beast.

skatearabia: Thanks for your post. Now I see why chapter review questions can be unreasonably difficult… As you said, the actual exam’s FR has only three very broad questions, unlike the chapter review MC and FR questions that are very specific and in-depth for one particular topic. But the three FR questions will be difficult in their own way, right? Even if they’re more general and less specific, they’ll do something like combining several concepts or topics into one question, won’t they? The FR question you mentioned that deals with non-inertial ref frames and an elevator seems like a good example of this.
