<p>Can someone describe the difference between ‘induction’ and ‘conduction’ for me? I was reading the textbook a few times, and I don’t understand what it is trying to say. The PR book doesn’t have it.</p>

Charge by contact - Touch something with a charged rod and the electrons move to try to balance the charge.
Charging by induction is taking a charged rod, say (-) rod and bringing it close to say a metal ball on a pole. The + charges move towards the rod, and then - move away. If a wire is attached to the ball, the electrons will move thorugh the wire to the ground. Remove the wire and then the pole. If the pole and the metal ball do not touch, then that is induction.</p>
<p>Conduction is when like heat or electricity is moved from say an object to another without like wind or flowing of the fluid. So if you cook an egg, thats conduction, because the metal is giving off heat without a mass movement of air or the metal.
I am unsure if a process can be both at the same time. I believe they can because that first thing with the rod and pole does not involve movement of the air.</p>
<p>Induction can sting you. We were using a tesla coil today and I volunteered to be the rat. I got like purple spots on my skin because I stayed to close to the tip.</p>
