AP Psych vs Marketing II

So, I’ve been having quite a dilemma as to which course I should enroll in for junior year. I have filled my schedule as follows:

  1. Honors Pre-Calc
  2. AP English 11
  3. APUSH
  4. Honors Chemistry
  5. Spanish II (Required)
  6. AP Psych or Mkt II???
Now the reason I’m stuck between the two are because of the conflict of DECA. According to my school you MUST be enrolled in a Marketing/Business Class to compete in DECA Events. This year I was pretty active within the program (I was Outstanding Chapter Officer of the year, was elected Director of Finance, won second place or a 30-page paper on Financial Literacy, and was nominated for the Leadership Academy at Nationals in Orlando,FL, I ended up not going, due to time issues)

Now on the AP Psych side, I have not taken ANY APs (I was on the varsity basketball team as a soph. and had to take a Weight Training Class to remain on the team, I had two other elective requirements, not to mention my required core classes) So I have 0 APs under my belt thus far. I did have a 4.2 GPA with Honors, really active within volunteering and extracurriculars, that I think I have a good shot at most of my desired classes. However, I am lingering toward Bates, Bowdoin, CalTech, University of British Columbia, Cambridge (London), and Imperial College (London) These international schools I listed are pretty heavy on the American Academic Standard activities like the SAT/ACT, and apparently AP Testing, so extracurriculars don’t exactly make the AOs at those international schools go “Ooh-Ahh”

So now I think I’ve explained my problem, If you were in my shoes what would you pick, and if you ever had any experience with International schools, please prove me wrong, and tell me extracurriculars are a big part

FYI, Cambridge is in Cambridge, not in London.

The British universities only consider APs related to your desired “major.” What is your desired major? If Psych isn’t related to that, take the marketing class.

Thanks for the reply, if I were to write Cambridge in Cambridge people would have assumed the college in mass. That’s how I seperated. My major is lingering toward engineering with pre-law emphasis. Which only makes the decision more difficult XD

I think you’ll probably be fine either way. I applied to colleges overseas last year (ICL but not Oxbridge) and got in with only three APs - though more, I guess, with the pending senior scores but you’ll also have those so… ::shrugs::.

I feel the need to emphasize that they will see your transcript and you will have to write essays (where you can mention/brag about your ECs).

Depends on the college, though, because some require a certain combo of either SAT/SAT IIs or SAT/APs. Just double-check their requirements for international applicants and then make your decision based on that.

Lol bro, just take the marketing class and self study the pysch exam. I got a five this way.

Take Marketing.

Lol, I guess I should just self-study for the test. I think i’ll take Marketing! Thanks!
