AP Psychology Exam question.

Sorry if this question may sound stupid to anyone, but is a calculator prohibited during the ap psych exam? I usually use a scientific calculator to solve the standard deviation questions; I know how to do it by hand, but it takes some time, which I don’t think I’ll have. Can I bring a calculator, or should I just leave it at home?

no calculators are allowed. i doubt they will have a standard deviation problem on the actual test since they know we cant use a calculator. best of luck on the exam!

hi~
my school does not provide an AP psychology class…so I study it by myself…
could I ask you a question about the standard deviation?
If the variation of a set of scores is 100,the standard deviation will be?
And the answer is 10…
I found the definition of the stand deviation is"measures a function of the average dispersion of numbers around the mean and is commonly used measure of variability"
But I still feel puzzled…

If they ask a question on that,it’ll be pretty easy to tell. For example:
1 1 1 4 7 7 7
1 4 4 4 4 4 7
1 2 3 4 5 6 7

You can intuitively see that the 1st has the largest sd, and the 2nd the smallest

pumbaa, Variance is, by definition, the square of standard deviation(try looking up the definition on wikipedia instead of a dictionary)

I look up the definition in wiki and understand what is the sd and relationship between sd and variance.
