AP rigor

Our school offers 13 APs, 3 of them are studio art 2d, 3d and music theory. by the time i graduate i will have taken 5 ap classes, however APUSH is way too hard for me and i’m considering dropping it. will 4 Ap classes instead of 5 be a big difference? Also, is my course load rigorous considering the number of APs my school offers?

I don’t know if 4 versus 5 will make a huge difference, and your school does offer less than most high schools offer, I’m guessing. Mine provided around the number, as well, maybe a tiny bit more. I ended up taking 8 AP classes and 7 tests (eff you, AP Physics), but, at least compared to some of the people I’ve met here at Cal and to some posts I’ve seen on CC, 4 is a little below the average for Berkeley.

PS: I know APUSH sucks @$$, I loathed that class too, but I’m a first year at Cal and can honestly say that APUSH was the only class, at least for me, that came close to mimicking the course-load and amount of reading you have to do for college…

Note that many APs are not accepted for subject credit at Berkeley, and some which are taught in a full year of high school are accepted for only a semester course of subject credit.

It does not appear that the APs in Studio Art or US History give any subject credit at Berkeley for majors or L&S/NR/UGBA breadth, although you may get generic units. Engineering majors may use AP US History for one lower division humanities or social studies breadth course.

Which APs are you taking? English Literature and Calculus BC are likely the most useful ones for subject credit at Berkeley and other universities.
