AP Scholar with Distinction!!

Lets see who all got it if u still havnt applied to college…

just say

I DID!

uhm

I DID!

I am a senior and I did it.

The designations have to do with how many AP exams you took and passed with high grades… whether or not you are going to college isn’t a factor. Here’s a link to College Board where it explains each of the designations:

I have to figure that others, like my S, got certificates in the mail in the past few days as tangible proof of their accommplishment.

Does AP National Scholar after Junior year look good even at the top colleges?

I’m thinking the most AP classes a Junior can take is 6-7 depending on the schedule their school offers. I suppose someone truly insane could take eight AP exams and earn 3.5 or better on all their exams and become a National AP Scholar their Junior year… or if they had access to AP sophomore year, they could do it that way. Here are the US award levels for AP Scholars.

AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

AP State Scholar: Granted to the one female and one male student in each U.S. state and the District of Columbia with grades of 3 or higher on the greatest number of exams (at least three exams), and then the highest average grade (at least 3.5) on all AP Exams taken.

National AP Scholar: Granted to students in the United States who receive an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

yes, but is getting national AP scholar fall of senior year… helpful for admissions? or is it just a dime-a-dozen sort of thing at the top schools?

Does this system of awards reward you for taking APs that are only one semester, so you can rack up more tests, as opposed to the full year courses?

The link below is the CB spreadsheet for 2006 AP awards (I haven’t seen 2007 out yet) listed by state, type of award, and student grade at time of award. Approx 500 Jr’s received national AP scholar in 2006. It’s an award like any other award - if you are among the few to receive it in your state then it’s not a dime-a-dozen.
