Feeling pretty stupid right now because on the AP score section of the Common App, I only reported the scores I had received results for, not the tests I plan to take.
I took 5 APs, which I reported scores for (AP World History, AP Chemistry, AP United States History, AP European History, AP Language and Composition). So those are on my application. The ones I plan to take (AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Macroeconomics, AP Calculus AB, APES, AP Psych) were not.
Obviously, I have updated that for if I apply to any more schools. But I’m assuming that the schools I’ve already applied to (including Stanford, Harvard, Emory, Brown, etc.) won’t, because CommonApp updates, don’t show up, correct?
Will this affect my admissions chances? Is there a way / should I attempt to report these using my applicant portals, or will colleges see the courses I’m taking senior year and assume I’m taking those exams?
I don’t think they will assume that you are taking those exams because some students opt not to. But I also don’t think it will matter one way or another in terms of your admissions chances. They tend to care more that you are taking the class than whether you are taking the exam.
Correct
No. Admissions doesn’t put much weight into what you plan to do this spring. I can easily say I plan to hit the lottery. And really, for these schools that don’t give credit, it’s pointless to take the exams anyway. But go ahead and send an update if you’d like
This is helpful; thank you!
If I were to send an update, would I just type out that I plan to take those exams? Just want to clarify, thanks.
Yup
