AP Scores Matter for Soon to be First-Year?

Hey. I recently received my AP scores and am going to be entering Columbia College this year. I was really shocked at the results though. I got a good enough score on physics b and calculus ab for credit and accelerated placement, but i did really horrible on my other four aps, micro, lit, span, and gov. If i plan to pursue pre-medicine, should i be worried about the micro and gov scores? and what happens for lit too? I have no idea how these bad scores will affect me. I think im going to demand a recheck on spanish b/c i did really horribly compared to other students in my class. But my main question is whether AP scores matter that much, aside from getting advanced credit and higher placement. Im really disappointed w/ my scores… Thanks.

Don’t worry – low AP scores will not affect you at all at this point. Only “good” AP scores have any impact once you’ve already been admitted to college.

Good AP scores can give you college credit and/or allow you to skip an intro class and go directly to a higher class in that particular subject (depending on the college’s policy). Bad AP scores just mean you may have to take that intro class – if you need to take that subject at all for your particular school and major.

The AP scores won’t be on your college transcript and med school will never know about them.
