Do AP scores effect admissions into college? If I got a 3 in chem and want to go into science would that effect anything or just college credits?

It does not specifically affect anything, but good scores on AP tests that you include on your resume could help impress college admissions reps. But, no, there are no requirements or anything like that for AP scores in the admissions end of things- they’re just for college credit.

Most prestigious universities don’t put significant weight on AP scores when determining admissions. Exceptions to this (so I’ve heard) are the famous English universities (Cambridge, Oxford, etc.).

^I think English unis put more weight on the academic interview than your AP scores, though.

^I just know that English universities weigh AP scores rather heavily. One CC member (I think rapevictim is his/her username) has a conditional acceptance to an English university. The condition? 5’s on particular AP exams.

If you feel like the score doesn’t represent your ability in a particular subject, you don’t have to report that particular score. AP Scores are self reported on your application. Schools don’t need an official report from College Board until you are enrolling.
