These are all passing, and really good. Don’t worry at all.
Thank you. Anyone else lol
Why? A waste of time and money, IMO.
No. AP Scores carry little to no weight in the admissions process; they are primarily used for credit and/or placement.
Anyone else???
At this point one wonders whether you’re simply fishing for compliments. Your scores are fine. Move on.
Chilllllllll bro I’m asking for opinions
JMO - you’re fine. Focus on other things still in your control. Test scores are just one factor. AP test scores are a minor part of that single factor, if they play any role at all.
Schools like Ivies are so much more than test scores.
Wait so if APs carry little weight, is there any point in taking them in high school?
You take AP tests for college credit and you take the AP classes to show colleges that you can handle college level/rigorous courses along with a bump in your GPA (if your school weights these courses).
Curious as to why it would be a waste of money? There shouldn’t be any or little cost involved in retaking the AP and more importantly it COULD lead to as much as 3 college credits which would in fact save money.
AP scores don’t matter much for admissions, only for college credit.
“Chilllllllll bro I’m asking for opinions”
Er, yes. Which you have received. Thrice at the time of writing this. I’m not certain what the advice to “chill” merits, coming from an applicant who apparently doesn’t consider three informed opinions sufficient. I am certain that “bro” is not having the rhetorical effect you probably hoped it would.
Your AP scores are used to gain college credit, generally after admission to a university. Whether they actually do is specific to each university, and often specific to each discipline. Consult the admissions or academic advising office of your chosen schools.
I spent nearly 400 dollars on my kids’ AP tests this year. That may be little or no cost to some. It’s not for us.
On “tests” plural. Since the school offers the test for free I’m not sure what you would spend money on other than an AP study book perhaps. To retake the test would have no cost but “could” potentially save the cost of paying for 3 college credits.
AP tests cost us 92 dollars each.
@moscott ^this^ around here we all pay out of pocket for AP exams - the school offers the classes but the student/family pays for the exams.
@moscott As you know, AP exams are only given once per year. The OP is a rising junior. Junior year is arguably the most challenging academically. In addition to her full load of classes and whatever she is doing for EC’s, she’ll be taking a battery of standardized tests (e.g. PSAT/SAT). If she took 5 AP’s this year, I assume she’ll have a few next year, all of which will require prep work for the exam. In the grand scheme of what she should spend her “free time” on, retaking an AP test and relearning the material from a year ago is not where I’d suggest spending time. Additionally, she’s targeting top schools where a 5 is needed for credit. To jump from a 3 to a 5 after a year, while not impossible, is a bit of a stretch. YMMV.
I would follow the advice of many of the experienced commenters here and say your scores are good. AP exams do not count for much in the admissions process- and you self-report scores, so you can choose to leave any scores you don’t want them seeing out. Don’t waste your time taking AP Bio again, and study for the APs you are going to be taking this year.
Thank you everyone (:
